Yummmers! Yoshinoya's beef bowls are so cheap and delicious that they've been exported to everywhere from Korea to Times Square. And up until now, the over 1000 Yoshinoya stores across Japan were stocked with beer and sake vending machines. However, in a recent campaign to deter drunk driving, all the Yoshinoyas with parking lots stopped liquor sales at their locations. That's 621 sober beef bowl joints.
My earliest memory of eating a Yoshinoya beef bowl was definitely preceded by a long night of drinking. I wasn't driving though, I was only 14.
