When I was in elementary school, I took a Japanese social studies class. Like most classes for kids, there were multiple choice quizzes about silly things you forget as an adult anyway, like the birth dates of famous shoguns or the name of the city in which he ate that famous octopus ball right before the Meiji Revolution kicked off. But I always thought the silliest one of all was this question:
What does the Japanese flag look like?
Are you frigging serious?? It's a red dot in the middle of a white 8.5 x 11 sheet. And mind you this is multiple choice. So what the question did was make the size of the dot slightly bigger and smaller in the wrong ones. It was confusing. Anyway, here's the right way to draw the Japanese flag:
The vertical-to-horizontal ratio of the flag is set at 2:3; the disc is placed at the exact center; and the diameter of the disc is equal to three-fifths of the vertical measurement. --web-japan.org--
Now YOU try getting that multiple choice question right.
