Jumbo was a 40-year old killer whale living in an aquarium 130km southwest of Tokyo. She broke the world record for killer whale with longest breeding lifespan in 1996, becoming an instant animal celebrity--like Masao-kun, the canine Brad Pitt. Like Masao-kun, 2006 was the last year on this earth for Jumbo. She died this week.
First of all, I didn't even know killer whales kept track of superficial things like world records. I'm curious how they're going to get rid of her carcass.
