These pretty, giant 150kg-heavy jellyfish, called the Echizen jellyfish, are arriving in swarms in the Sea of Japan and eating up all the high-grade tuna. Fishermen are complaining because the jellyfish are stopping them from catching and selling the wonderful fatty toro that sushi fanatics love to eat.
What to do? Fishermen solved this problem with quick thinking and a few extra fish nets--they decided to market these highly nutritious, collagen-filled creatures. They're poisonous at first, but if properly prepared and cooked, could be a delicious dinner dish.
