Japan Airlines isn't the only place you can get sushi on the fly anymore. From February 2008, JAXA--Japan's space exploration agency--plans to have a full Japanese menu at the International Space Station. Before this decision was made, space food was going to be exclusively from the United States and Russia.
If I were an astronaut, I'd rather be eating ramen and beef bowls than hamburgers and piroshkis, too.
