I didn't know that a Japanese-American guy created Scooby Doo until I read his obituary in the NY Times today. Iwao Takamoto was 81 when he died of a heart attack last Monday. He learned animation from some film studio art directors while they were all being detained at the Manzanar Internment Camp in the early 40s. This was after he finished high school at age 15. Super smart guy, obviously. And then when he got out, he got a job at Disney and then Hanna-Barbera, where he imagined and brought Scooby to life.

I was wondering if you were going to mention him. I think his contribution to pop culture was a great as the inventor of Cup Noodle. Their passing diminishes us all. Who's next, though? These things always happen in 3's....
