Tokyo gets really dry in the winter, but who wants to cram their already tiny living quarters with a giant humidifier? Plus, they're expensive, and it's cold, and I'd rather spend the money on an extra blanket.
This simple, compact humidifier costs about 2000 yen (less than $20) and uses an ordinary half-liter water bottle turned upside-down as the source of its steam.

I love my travel humidifier!, its small, lightweight, portable, uses a water bottle, and is cool mist ultrasonic technology. Great for the hotel room when I travel. I got it here: http://www.worldtohome.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65_565_566
