When I was in grade school, my mom used to put a lot of love into my lunch boxes. Of course, as a kid, this was slightly embarrassing, and I always envied the PB&J plus fruit roll up plus juice box in a brown bag combo meal. Japanese lunch boxes can be really awesomely pretty, as you can see in this and other daily creations documented on e-obento.com. And I bet they taste just as good.

Wow...that is pretty.
You know, I was just thinking to myself that such a box wouldn't really work in a US elementary school--or middle school. When you're that age, you care more about finishing whatever your lunch is to get to the playground and get the best handballs.
And hey, those PB&J (in my case, the J stood for Jam--strawberry flavor) were damn good.
