"Ginza, where the pride of people who sell and buy high-quality goods exerts positive power"

That's brilliant. Make the world a better place through mad capitalism.

I can't wait for her "Empower yourself through power shopping or why you shouldn't feel guilty about the 20th pair of shoes" guide.

Oh! I found a Pachinko Power Spot one time, as I was able to walk away with over 50,000¥
(About 18k of those little balls)

I don't know about power spot, but it paid for my flight.

"Because foreigners have a stronger and more distinct spirit, they are not affected by Japan's negative spirit. And as more people began to frequent the area, its whole fortune rose."

Well, DUH...people with spending money were bringing tourist dollars to the areas. This woman is a freakin' genius. Point out the obvious, attribute it to supernatural 'energies' and sucker idiots into forking over their hard earned money for a book that serves no good.

I absolutely do not believe in 'clairvoyants', tarot card readers, and 'psychics'...they're all a bunch of scam artists.

She is easy on the eyes though...but that's about all.

I assume she mentions natural attractions as power spots at some point, besides all the high-maintenance consumer areas.

My Bio

  • I write articles about culture, technology, and human rights for Wired, Popular Science, Fast Company, and the New York Times Magazine. I also produce radio segments for PRI's Studio360 and am a Correspondent for Boing Boing, one of Time Magazine's five most essential blogs of 2010.

In 2008, Chronicle published my book: Urawaza: Secret Everyday Tips and Tricks from Japan.

I am also the founder of The Tofu Project, a boutique program that helps Japanese entrepreneurs and creators think deeper, tell better stories, and go out into the world in a much bigger way. We work with companies like Mixi, Japan Airlines, and Salesforce.com.

Sometimes I try to explain Japanese culture on CNN, BBC, CBC, WSJ, ABC (so many acronyms!) or in person at places like the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan, ETech, and Ignite!
