I know everyone says iPods are better than Walkmans, but Sony definitely kicks ass in the design department. Check out the newest in the series, the NW-E016, which is actually a 4-gig USB drive MP3 player with up to 30 hours of playing time. It comes in a bunch of shiny pretty colors and it's as pretty as a stick of lipstick. It comes out April 21 in Japan. Link (Japanese)
While I like the look and style of the Sony music players, I think the point that most people miss about the iPod vs. Everyone-else comparisons is the entire experience. The iPod+iTunes combination is the best, smoothest experience for putting music on your computer and into your iPod. While other companies have tried, most all have failed. Unless Sony has drastically improved their user experience and ease of use, a "pretty as a stick of lipstick" player won't amount to much.
