I like the sidebar from #1 and the header graphic from #3. I think the header graphic expresses the fun of the posts you write about the quirky place that is Japan, but the sidebar is awful with the red "fast-forward" arrows. And #1's sidebar is simple and clean!

I prefer Entry #1.
- Clean look, soft edges
- That fruit is a "Mango"
- The flag has a ginkgo leaf on it. That leaf is interwoven with Japan, from art, signs, clothes, family crests, sumo, everywhere. *Most importantly, the person who designed the look, knows that flag specifically represents the prefecture of Tokyo. (Get it, Tokyo/Mango)

- The colors of the mango match up with the site color scheme.
- The design clearly defines, the main body, advertisements, additional links.

Whomever designed entry #1, know this. Even if it is not selected, your thought/effort did not go unnoticed.

I am quite surprised to see that few voted for N°3... I hesitate between n°1 and n°3. My favorite is n°1 (by the way, I like the current design of your website!) Have you tried a differente color then green?
