Nine years ago, I lived with a host family in Paris right by the Bois de Boulogne, in the southwest corner of the city. When most French people think of the Bois de Boulogne and Japanese people, they think of Issei Sagawa.
Back in 1981, Sagawa was an exchange student at the Sorbonne. He invited a Dutch classmate named Renee Hartevelt over for dinner. But instead of eating the sukiyaki he was cooking, he shot her in the head, had sex with her dead body, and then ate her. When he'd had enough for the night he cut up the remains, put them in the fridge, and cooked them with salt and pepper. He discarded the inedible remains in the Bois de Boulogne. He's one of the most shameless, unremorseful cannibals ever. And he never had to pay for his crimes because he got off on an insanity plea, and was extradited to Japan soon after.
Instead of laying low, Sagawa brags about his cannibalism and even wrote an illustrated book about himself. He even starred in a porno and has made guest appearances on talk shows. People were fascinated with him because he had eaten a human before, and isn't afraid to talk about it in public.
Apparently, this sick mother fucker still lives happily in Japan, writing and appearing in tabloids.
He is so sick. If insanity was the reason for keeping him alive, why the heck is he even allowed to roam the streets?
How could someone become so twisted in the mind is something I could never fathom with.

Ok. I'm officially creeped out. I wonder too, how he is allowed to be free. Even insane people are put into facilities. ::shivers::

Yes, amazing. Supposedly his father is well connected in the Japanese government and got him put in a French mental institution, and then he was "transferred" to one in Japan and released. Ridiculous...
