NEC recently revealed its new FieldAnalyst camera, which basically analyzes passers-by based on their looks. By homing in on their appearance, it determines your gender and approximate age. The creators are working on an app that will let it guess your social class, too, based on how you dress. It does this by comparing your looks to samples in a static database.
The $19,000 tool is being marketed to big retailers for market research purposes.
