A couple of Mainichi reporters recently conducted interviews with A-bomb survivors in Hiroshima, which culminated into an award-winning series of articles that grapple with the quesion: Was the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki necessary?
It's a well debated and sensitive topic that I'm not going to get into now (shh! I'm not supposed to be blogging right now). Some think it was the worst thing that happened ever on the planet; others think the world spends too much time remembering the tragedy that plagued the Japanese and not enough time remembering the tragedies the Japanese imposed on others.
BTW, if you haven't already, check out HBO's White Light Black Rain. It's a great documentary about a-bomb survivors.
