Subterranean Vault Under Bank District Teaches Kids How to Farm
Inside an unused bank vault under one of Tokyo's busiest bank districts is a square kilometer of subterranean farm growing rice and providing part-time jobs to dozens of jobless youth who'd rather be farming part-time than working for a big company that will own them forever.
Pasona O2, as this facility is called, was built as a training facility for kids who might want to consider agriculture as a career alternative. Hey, why not? Could be better than working at a combini.

This is really cool!
Farming would make a come back in the near future. Many countries are experiencing food shortage, mainly because there aren't enough farmers, especially Russia. Japan also have a lack of farm land, which requires smarter, more efficient farming techniques.

Oh, I know this one. It's under Pasona, one of the largest career placement companies in Japan! It's the only fully working indoor facilities like this anywhere and they have had many top politicians and even the Prime Minister to visit and see what is possible with technology.
So yeah, it's for kids too but it's also a research center as well. And all indoors in the basement of a building.
Sanma no San-channel did a special on Pasona a few months back on TV and they went down there too. Pretty neat!
