Kirin is releasing a new sub-brand of beer in October. It's called Strong Seven because it has 7% alcohol content. This goes against the recent trend of making lighter beers with 3-4% rather than the standard 5%. It's cheap, too—a 350ml can is just 141 yen.
Since Japanese beer is so popular and yummy, I'm sure this will be a big hit among those who think it's a little too light. I don't know anything yet about its distribution in the US.

Yeah regular Kirin is pretty light; it's the lightest of the four major brands (well, I've never tried Suntory, but I've heard). It's like a less skunky Budweiser. But I dunno if just upping the alcohol is really the answer, unless they've also made it more flavorful at the same time.

Alcohol won't really make it taste any better, but strong beer is pretty hard to come by over there so it'll probably have that distinction at least.
I'm a first-time poster, just wanted to say hi. :)
I took my first trip to Tokyo this summer and loved it. Your blog helps me curb some of the nostalgia. I loved it so much!
Keep the good posts coming.
