Reader Kazu Y sends this YouTube video of a Kirin commercial featuring a park full of pregnant and young mothers who are drinking beer — that is, alcohol-free beer. He says:
flabbergasted when I saw this maybe because
I've lived in the US for so long....
What do you guys think? Is there something wrong with this imagery, or is it totally fine?
I thought it was good, personally. Not good enough to get me to buy Kirin, non-alcoholic or no, but definitely witty.

There's something wrong in this ad. A lot of pregnant and youg mothers? How come if they are so few?

guess it's no big deal, there was this children's beer in japan and now i even see it in the nijiya supermarket in the u.s.

Non-alcoholic beer still has small levels of alcohol. ANY alcohol is bad for a developing fetus.
These women are morons.

Unless I am wrong, the ad states this beer is free of ALL alcohol

Pregnant and young Japanese mothers drinking beer with John Lennon playing left me unsure of how to feel. I mean don't get me wrong, Lennon is (strangely) appropriate, but that just ads to the uncertainty of my feelings.

I don't really see the problem. I don't think this would be an issue in America.

Given how horrific beer tastes, I really don't see the point.
But if it's really alcohol free, then whatever.

I'm actually more appalled by the use of a John Lennon song in a beer commercial than anything else.
I guess Yoko approves.

It's what John would have wanted.

It's totally, 100% alcohol-free beer. And I don't think this would fly in the US, since there are rules about advertising to children, which the far right would push to include fetuses.
